Adventures On the Water – Boat Vacations
Even people who dont own and sail on a regular basis get the urge to go to sea – and not on a cruise ship. While boating holidays arent the least expensive vacations around, they are appealing and many people like to try them once in their lives.
Water vacations are huge in range and in price. One of the most relaxing and pretty ways to see Europe is by barge. In England, the Netherlands, France and other countries, you can book passage on canal barges. They move slowly, are long and narrow and have wonderful accommodations. You get to see a country slowly slipping by you. Others who are into sailing can go to almost any coastal part of the world and charter both large and small boats – with a crew or without – and go exploring. There are even cruises which take place on either working boats or sailing ships and allow as much direct activity as you feel like. Some carry a hundred people and others just a few
and the prices vary.
For a family who doesnt own a ski boat but would like to try it out, many lake resorts
have marinas where you can rent both the boat and the skiis and even have people to teach if you want to learn how. Houseboats are an excellent option for people with a few children. You can set out in the morning, find a nice cove and park there as long as it is still interesting.
Whether you take a whole vacation on the water or just take the Circle Line around Manhattan for a morning or afternoon, seeing a new place from the water can be special and it offers a whole new perspective on places too.
